Make Love Priority

Pick me up and carry me away, like the River Seine cascades into the lights of Paris glimmering in the moonlight. It’s reciting love notes over us… The starry hosts who love to behold a romance unfurling like a ballerina twirling.

Captivate me. Like you do every time your eyes find me with Heaven’s fire. Hypnotize me. Like you do every moment your heart melts me with lovers’ desire. Mesmerize me. Elevate me to euphoria all over again.

He says, our love will never end, my Beloved… I’m just getting started.

“The voice of my Beloved! Behold, He comes leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills.”
‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭2:8‬

He moves fast. Like lightning flashes when a storms brews in velvet hues of navy blue. He moves quick. Like the sun lifts high into the daylight frescoing the valiant sky. He moves deep. Like an anchor dives straight into the ocean floor marking his territory. Mark me with your love…

“Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth— For your love is better than wine.”
‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭

The Kingdom of God moves with urgency.

In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus speaks about the enchanting beauty of The Kingdom of God. In Matthew chapter 13, he tells 2 parables about its esteemed worth, second to none. He says this…

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. When he found 1 priceless pearl, he went and sold everything he had, and bought it.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭13:45-46‬

Love moves fast.

Love moves with urgency.

In this parable, the merchant has been travelling for quite some time. Jesus does not tell us the length of time he had been searching, whether years, months, or days. But he does make it clear. Upon the pearl’s discovery, the merchant immediately makes a move. He sells all of his belongings. Everything. Then he goes and buys the pearl. Why would he do such a thing? How would he live without his possessions? Is the pearl enough for him to live, solely with the pearl as his one belonging? Jesus says yes. The pearl was worth everything. So he gave up everything.

Is love worth it to you?

Love is worth it to me.

take it all

I don’t want it at all

if I can’t have

You

 the most treasured of all

Everything of luxury. Every dream of destiny is given for love is the greatest treasure of all. 1 Corinthians 13:13 says, “Now faith, hope and love remains but the greatest of these is love.” Love will always be the greatest, most worthy possession you can ever have.

In verse 45, Jesus says that the merchant went searching for many “fine pearls,” not just one. But he foudn one. One that was priceless. So priceless he abandoned his search from then on and did not need to keep looking for anymore pearls. He wanted the one priceless pearl. The pearl he never knew he would find.

When you find your one pearl, all others lose enchantment.

When you find your one pearl, everything else becomes secondary.

The verse says, “when he found… he went.” He takes action upon discovery. Do you take action upon discovery of life’s greatest pearl? This man did. He knew what was most important and what carried highest value, so he acts in tandem with that revelation. Your life and your joy reflects what you value. When you value the most treausured pearl, your joy will soar in correlation with its worth. If the man were to not give all for the pearl and just keep searching for more, he would have not landed with a joy-filled ending. He would have kept searching with a heart of discontentment and insatiable longing.

Your contentment rises when you go for the highest pearl, no matter what it costs you. When you prioritize what carries the highest value in life. When you give everything for it, selflessly and radically. This is what the Kingdom of Heaven is like.

Jesus says that The Kingdom of Heaven is worth more than all.

The Kingdom of Heaven is priority.

The Kingdom of Heaven is worth your life and all of its pursuits.

The Kingdom of Heaven is the highest joy.

The Kingdom of Heaven is a Kingdom of perfect good and perfect love.

Priceless.

Treasured.

Unrivaled.

Unequaled.

Like the merchant in search of fine jewels, your soul ignites like turquoise minerals in healing pools. Jesus shows you what’s most valuable when you align your heart with His. After telling these parables, Jesus turns to the disciples wanting them to fully understand what he is communicating.

Have you understood all these things?” “Yes,” they told Him. “Therefore,” He said to them

“every student of Scripture instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who brings out of his storeroom what is new and what is old.” When Jesus had finished these parables, He left there.” Matthew 13:51-53

Jesus very unique, thought-provoking imagery. He says, “every student of Scripture instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner.” When you study the word of God, you own land. You own territory. And in your land, you have a “storeroom” Jesus says. The contents of that storeroom are both new and old. New and old teachings. New and old concepts. New and old epiphanes. New and old revelations. Jesus symbolizes the Old Testament writings here when he talks about the duality of new and old as well, showing the disciples how the Old Testament is meant to support the new teachings of grace and truth He has been presenting.

What is your storeroom?

A student of the Word of God is entrusted with territory for storing up the insight Jesus imparts to you, both old and new. Your mind is your storeroom. Your heart is your storeroom. Your soul is your storeroom. Store up the words of Jesus in there so that you can carry them with you always available. Both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

What are you storing in your mind? Soul? Spirit? Body? What you store there affects you. Be influenced by the words of Jesus.

Jesus is discipling these men as they follow Him, and he takes times to prioritize these moments of one-on-one instruction with them because he wants them to be most equipped for the ministry work they are doing. I love how Jesus prioritizes his disciples. He always takes time for them, throughout the gospels in all 4 books. He is present, willing, engaging, patient, loving and tender with them. Empowering them to walk in his footsteps.

Jesus prioritizes His people.

Jesus prioritizes His loved ones.

In the gospels we see many stories of healing where Jesus moves fast with urgency to heal his people. In Luke chapter 18, Jesus encounters a blind man and he asks for the man to be brought close to him right that moment.

“Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:42

Faith makes you well. Strong. Perceptive. Discerning.

Because the man believed Jesus could heal him, he receives the manifestation of that faith coming true for him right then, at that moment with Jesus right in front of him.

“And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God.”

Luke 18:43a

At the cataclysmic moment of Jesus touching you, you receive immediate healing. Do you need immediate healing? Then you need a touch of God. That is the changing, life-giving power. That is the miraculous ingredient needed in every spirit and every body and every soul.

Jesus moves “immediately,” verse 34 says, because His love provokes Him to manifest in regal, supernatural power. This power is immediate. It moves with haste. With urgency.

When you need the Lord to be with you, He will. You are His priority!

“And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.”

Luke 18:43b

Jesus’ miracles provoke all the people to praise God. He is the miracle worker and people cannot avoid that reality when they see it play out right in front of them.

Let God heal you so that others can see God.

I notice in this passage that before Jesus heals the man, he asks him a question first. Jesus says…

“What do you want Me to do for you?”

“Lord,” he said, “I want to see!” Luke 18:41

What do you want Jesus to do for you?

He wants to come closer to you and love you if you would ask Him to…

Jesus wants to know what you need from Him. He wants to know how to help you, how to heal you, how to provide for you, how to reach you, how to be with you, how to love you, how to captivate you and mezmerize you. He knows already… but he wants to hear it from your mouth… tell Him… so that you can share in that connection of intimacy.

“Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds.” Proverbs 27:23

What do the people need from you? Give them the love they need that you receive from the Lord. You need His provision abounding to you and overflowing in you so that you can keep pouring out of yourself to them.

Even moreso, make your lover your priority. The priceless pearl. The rare diamond. They need your love and your lover is your first priority above every other task and responsibility. Make them your priority. Reaffirm your love daily, momentarily, immediately, with urgency and fervor.

“Therefore I urge you to reaffirm your love to Him.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭

You are Jesus’ priority.

Your lover is your priority.

You are the priceless pearl, the Kingdom jewel, the radiant sapphire beaming full of Heaven’s rule and reign. I give everything for you.

Heaven is worth your life savings. Your life gifts. Your life dreams. Your life moments. My life in exchange for Your immortality… ravish me wholly for You can have me. Your love is worth it.

“To live is Christ, to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21

I love You Lord

so I live for You

breathe for You

leap for You

sing for You

in the midnight sun

like our love has just begun

its always fresh

always kept

in the heights

of cosmic wonder

your love is my life

Your love is my light

The river rapids stroll into the airspace drifting off the waterfalls in flight. Liquid gushes over the heights streaming into the pools of teal and crystal light reflecting from the sun. It moves with urgency. Expediency. Immediacy. Because the force of its momentum compels it to meet gravity as it barrels into the deep. You move me… and I move you. You carry me with you… and I carry You through every life path we venture on. Let setting sun speak of all its seen and has to see as our love keeps moving freely into eternity. Your are my lover and you are my priority.

When you love someone, make love priority.

“For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13
