On Guard

“Wolves are lurking. Stay on guard,” says the Commander under the moonlight.

“Yes, sir,” says the soldier.

He stands firm with focused eyes, unshaken.

“I’m going to circle the perimeter,” says the one in charge.

“You shouldn’t go alone. Let me come with you. I’ll call a backup for lookout.”

“I can go alone, soldier.”

“No,” he says. “I insist.”

“I understand that, but its an order.”

“And I am under oath to protect and defend my people. I cannot sit by while you go into dangerous territory alone.”

“I knew I trained you well,” affirms the Commander who moves his feet with urgency. “Let’s get going.”

“I Am the good shepherd. I know My own and My own know Me.” John 10:14

“We put our lives at risk every time we put on the uniform. I knew what I signed up for.” The soldier follows willingly as the night sets in with gusts of wind and dusty cyclones.

“Then never let a wolf devour a sheep,” He commands and directs a keen eye.

“Yes, sir.”

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” John 10:10-11

“Wolves will have to get through us first. No one touches our sheep.”

Don’t let anyone attack your flock.

Protect your people.

“Just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to My voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.” John 10:15-16

Jesus calls His people to belong to Him because He is a good King. You cannot thrive with wolves in your life. Those who seek to destroy you and your spiritual connection with God impede your spiritual vitality.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” Matthew 7:15

The enemy wants to kill, steal, and destroy. But God wants to protect and empower.

Wolves destroy your property, your dreams, your happiness, and your progress. But God wants to upgrade you, bless you, and treasure your identity.

Wolves steal your excitement and your confidence so that you cannot flourish in the will God imparted but Jesus comes to give you enthusiasm, love, inspiration, input, ideas, happiness, joy, hope, and blessings both now and in the future.

God gives you abundant life. He extravagantly gives you every blessing under the sun.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Help and protection is a mark of an authentic redeemer.

The one who loves you does anything and everything to protect you.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

Let Jesus comfort your heart with His sovereign love. His reign ensures your eternal life forevermore. His presence is with us in times of trouble, which means that He is never absent. He is always there. He is always for you.

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them.”

Psalm 34:7
