Dressed In White

“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
    they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
    they shall become like wool.”

Isaiah 1:18

“You look beautiful, Evelyn!”

The bride-to-be makes her way through the corridor to the angled mirrors.

“Is it too long in the back?” Evelyn gathers the white, crystal-studded ball gown and spins in the mirror to look.

“It’s perfect, my dear. Whimsical and perfect,” answers her mother, Kendra.

“Long trains are simply divine!” The bridal assistant, Marie, ruffles the back, spreads it out, and lays it on the marble floors for a picturesque view. “There,” she beams with joy at the satisfaction of a perfectly worn ballgown on display. “Oh, I love this job! Making brides dreams come true makes my day.”

“Mother, what do you think?”

“It’s simply divine, princess,” she replies with a kiss on the cheek.

“What color do you prefer?” Marie asks as she fluffs the skirt.

“Color?” Evelyn turns her head to face Marie.

“For the dress! We have snow white, off white, cream, red, pink, and black,” Marie exclaims with delight.

“Oooh, I like the sound of pink!” Evelyn tilts her head and looks at the tall mirrors where satin sparkles twinkle back at her.

“Pink is trending this year!” Marie confirms wistfully.

“Evelyn, don’t you want to wear a white dress for your big day?”

“I want to feel beautiful,” Evelyn says and turns to Marie. “If you’ll excuse me, Marie, I’d like to call my fiancé, Harry, and get his input.”

Marie nods. “Let’s give her a few minutes everyone! Out to the foyer!”

Dial tones sound. Harry answers. “How is the dress fitting, baby?”

“I’m still here!” Evelyn says. “I can’t decide on a color. Of course, white is classic, but it comes in other colors. I’m thinking pink.”

“White,” Harry says hastily through the speaker phone.

“White?” Evelyn confirms.

“Yes, baby. I want you dressed in white. Just like an angel.”

Evelyn tears up and nods her head, eyeing the sparkling ball gown in the mirror.

“I love you,” Evelyn says.

“I love you, Evie,” he replies.

Evelyn hangs up and the phone and wipes the dripping mascara. “Everyone can come back now!”

“What will it be?” Marie asks, excited to hear her choice.

Evelyn beams. “He wants me in white!”

Marie gestures approval and waves her tape measure. “Snow White it is!”

“For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 11:2

God clothes His Bride in white. Pure white. Snow white. Shining white. Fluorescent white. Every skin tone and eye color will be dressed in the pure white of Jesus’ purity when He returns to claim His people for Himself.

Get ready for His return.

Jesus loves His Bride.

When God betroths His Bride to one husband, this indicates “God” as that “one husband.” The eternal bridegroom. In Genesis, God created Adam and Eve for one another. Relationships are key to God’s design. When sin came into the world, it changed the family dynamic because of broken relationships. Still, God pursues His Bride. Hosea is just one example of how God pursues His bride, regardless of the unfaithfulness. Hosea pursued Gomer who was already with another man.

“And the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, even as the Lord loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love cakes of raisins.” So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and a homer and a lethech of barley. And I said to her, “You must dwell as mine for many days. You shall not play the whore, or belong to another man; so will I also be to you.” Hosea 3:1-3

God’ compassion compels His heart. God restores relationships. Break-ups, divorce, multiple partners, sexual sin… God says, come to Me and I will clothe you in white again and restore your life.

Jesus Christ is the only redeemer of life. There is no other besides Him. Eternal life can only be found in Him. If you give your life to Jesus and let Him be God, then He will cover your sins and clothe you in the white glory of a royal identity forever.

“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow,” Isaiah 1:18 says.

No one is exempt from this need.

We all have sin.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

We all need a Savior.

Denying Jesus keeps you out of His family. Don’t reject the Savior of your life. His love desires you… forever.

God loves to clothe you in pure white, as His redemptive touch disintegrates every blemish. Jesus died to clothe you in pure white, as His red blood absorbs every sin and wrongdoing. The Holy Spirit loves to clothe you in white, as His dazzling light enflames you to shine with luminescence like Him.

“Let us rejoice and exult
    and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and His Bride has made herself ready.” Revelation 19:7

Jesus dresses His Bride in purity forever because she accepts what has been give to her to put on. This pure adornment must be received, not rejected.

“It was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”—for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.” Revelation 19:8

God grants you the right to wear white.

Wear the bright light of God’s glory.

This dress that Revelation describes is a fine linen material. The finest of threads. Capable of projecting a reflection off of its surface. Verse 8 says the fine linen will be “bright and pure” because the righteous deeds of the saints will be shining all over her.

God’s Bride wears a dress that gives homage to every believer in Heaven. Their deeds are interwoven in the script of the fabric. Their sacrifices are embroidered in the linen God fashioned. Every moment of your life is honored by God through His Bride. Thus, God’s Bride represents all of God’s people.

Jesus is the bridegroom and we are His Bride.

John the Baptist knew this.

In John 3, as he transitions in his ministry from heralding the coming of Christ to the ministry of Jesus Christ now being inaugurated, he speaks of Jesus as the “Bridegroom.”

The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete.” John 3:29

Friends of the bridegroom celebrate alongside the bridegroom when he beautiful bride walks towards him down the aisle. They are there to support his future and destiny.

John makes an analogy where he describes himself as the “friend of the bridegroom [Jesus],” and that this role bring him great joy. He is happy to see Jesus’ ministry beginning. A ministry that will save the Bride of Christ from life without Him. Thus, Jesus marriage (as the Bridegroom) to the Bride (that’s us) saves us from eternal hell into eternal Heaven.

John continues after this analogy to proclaim, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30

John the Baptist knew his life’s purpose was to prepare for the return of the Messiah. When Jesus showed up, John knew it was time for him to step back and let Jesus step up to be the one who called the people to Himself.

The bridegroom sent someone to prepare his bride for him, so that she would be ready when He came. John the Baptist prepared the people for Jesus.

The body of the Christ is identified as the Bride of Christ to show God’s loyal love to His people. He loves us like a lover. He wins us like a pursuer. He keeps us like a husband. He marries us like a bridegroom. He cherishes us like a King. Because He is a King.

You have a choice to choose God in return.

God will marry the ones who accept Jesus offer of salvation.

Jesus died to give everyone this offer, and no one will be left out from receiving it, unless they reject it.

Everyone who wants Jesus can have Jesus. The Love of God is an never-ending fountain of eternal life. He finds you by His love. He woos you by His love. He draws you close by His love. Say yes to the one who dresses you in white. He is your eternal bridegroom.
