What do you have to give God? Give the best of your love. The best of your heart. The best of your gifts. The best of your soul. The best of all you are. Love flourishes when lovers give their best and hold nothing back.
“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence.” 2 Peter 1:3
God gives the best of life and the best of Himself. Getting to know Him more leads us into the excellence of His glorious love and intimacy.
Excellence marks the Kingdom of God. Excellence marks the love of an enraptured, devoted lover. Excellence marks the one captivated by passion. Excellence marks the one enchanted with Heavenly hope. Excellence marks the one embraced in perfect love.
God wants the best of your love. The best of your heart. The best of your soul. The best of all you have to give. Never give God half of your heart. He deserves all of it.
Give God 100% because He gives you 100%.
“Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:61-62
God does want a partial percentage of you. He wants all of you. Give Him all of you.

God blesses you when you give your all to Him.
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” 2 Corinthians 9:6
You receive plentiful, lavish, exponential blessings when you give all you have to God generously.
When you understand God’s great love to pursue you, you want to give Him your best.
In Luke 7, Jesus meets a woman who gives Him her best love.
“Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet.” Luke 7:44-45
God noticed this woman. The one who loved Him like no one else was watching.
God redeemed this woman. The one who loved Him more than everyone every else.
Why would God want the best of your love? Because He is a God of the best. He gives His best and so we give our best. He deserves to be loved with the best of all we have to bring Him.
We receive the most intimate love when we give the best of ourselves to God.
God gives His best effort in how He runs the universe and watches over His people.
Give God you best to show Him your love and affection.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23
In Matthew 9, Matthew gives his best love to Jesus. He leaves his post at the tax booth and follows Jesus.
“As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and He said to him, “Follow Me.” And he rose and followed Him.” Matthew 9:9
Jesus asked for 100% of Matthew’s allegiance. 100% of his life. 100% of his loyalty. 100% of his devotion. And Matthew responds immediately. He gives from Matthew and Matthew gave everything. 100%.
“And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Matthew 9:10-13
Jesus wants your best. In Matthew 9, Jesus said that He desires “mercy.” The verb “desire” is a strong verb evoking passionate emotion. Jesus feels very passionately about mercy.
The lack of mercy turns God off.
Mercy pleases Him.
Jesus also says that he does not want sacrifice. The pharisees were sacrificing their time, money, and efforts to devote themselves to the synagogue but they were neglecting the people. They had no mercy. Jesus says I would rather have you show mercy than sacrifice everything you have been sacrificing in order to live up to religion. Mercy is greater. Love is greater. Kindness is greater. Jesus shows the definition of kindness. Religious works do not give God your best. Your love is the best of you that He requires.
Jesus says He came to call “sinners” not “righteous” because there is no one righteous without Him. Everyone needs Jesus.
Jesus is for all people.
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people.” Titus 2:11
Everyone possesses the opportunity to make Jesus their Savior. He saves anyone who wants Him to be King. God loves every soul He makes and desires all people to belong to Him. He does not want to lose even one.
“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it?” Luke 15:4
This story mirrors the heart of God who goes after the one. God always goes after the one. God sees the one. God wants the one. God woos the one. God will not stop until He has the one who got away.
God gives His best and so we give our best.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
Colossians 3:23-24
