Until Forever Comes…

tears rain pomegranate

Drip dropping wax

ice on glass

molten lava ravishing a blade of grass

it melts from a flame you can’t touch

I tried once

hand frozen in place despite the rush

of fire seeping into my skin

There’s a scar there.

I like the reminder it gives me

soon it will be sealed and red

permanent

aggravating yet fascinating

agonizing yet tantalizing

Heaven sent.

Nothing is forever they say.

Until forever comes and steals you away.

I see one aflame.

“He doesn’t love you”

they say.

I know

but his eyes would make you melt

drip dropping wax

doesn’t hold a candle to it

and it will burn you if you’re not careful with it

intuition all escaping in the rush of it

Nothing is forever they say.

Until forever comes and steals you away.

Sparks glistening beneath the night air

I see a star

and it’s not fair

how the clouds like to hide you

in a veil and not share

that’s why it’s rare

Buds of yellow and white against the grey and black

the sky drifts

clouds sway

glimmers break through

they’ll dazzle for you if you want them to

I waited once

to see

the light sneak a peek

into the world below

revealing a hidden beauty I could never fully know

perplexed

then paralyzed

bewildered at vastness beyond me

touched in ways I didn’t know were a part of humanity

it was worth the brevity

Nothing is forever they say.

Until forever comes and steals you away.

I see a King

radiant as bronze

His feet glow

and everybody is waiting

though they don’t know

I hope He comes soon

this King

this healer of scars

this remover of clouds

when all glistens

never stops

and I am

speechless

unable to behold Him

blinded

unable to look upon Him

I saw a glimmer of Him in the one I loved

how beautiful

the reminder

this flame persists in the coldness of the night

It persists

until He comes

and makes everything right

Nothing is forever they say…

Until forever comes and steals you away.

Nothing is forever they say…

Until forever comes…and invites us to stay.
