Don’t Look Back – Part 4

Part 4

Reliving the past robs you of the future. Live in the present. Reflect on Jesus. Move forward with the Lord. Jesus has something for you today and the days ahead.

In Genesis 19, Lot and his wife find themselves in the city God plans to destroy. So he sends 2 angels to rescue them out and they travel to Zoar. “Don’t look back!” the angel says in Genesis 19:17.

“But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭19‬:‭26‬ ‭

Don’t look back at what God destroys.
Don’t look back at what God removes from your life. Why are you watching what God told you not to observe? Keep your eyes on Him. He loves it when you look to Him. ♥️

“So it was that, when God destroyed the cities of the valley, God remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow when he overthrew the cities in which Lot had lived.” Genesis 19:29

God rescues Lot because of Abraham. When you please the Lord, God will rescue your friends and family because you ask Him to. Jesus delights in a heart that seeks rescue and reconciliation.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭9‬

No matter how long it takes, seek peace with everyone.

Even when others seek to harm you, God will reward you for rising up to love as the bigger person. Like the prophet Nathan who battles for David’s redemption in 2 Samuel 12. He rebukes David with spiritual maturity that seeks betterment not harm. There’s a difference between pure rebuke and evil rebuke. God anoints prophets to rebuke purely.

“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭

Look forward now.

Lift your eyes and see the Lord, the one Abraham knew as the One who established him.

“And the LORD appeared to Abraham by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day.” Genesis‬ ‭18‬:‭1‬
