The Key of Love

God gave you a key. It’s His love. His love unlocks the treasures of His love for you. His love unlocks the mysteries of His words to you. His love unlocks the Bible from beginning to end. Every story and every penned inscription can only be read through the eyes of love.

Love makes The Bible come to life. You benefit from the experience of its words impacting the heart with the truth of its content, as you give your heart to Jesus in love. Love is the prerequisite to understanding the Kingdom of God.

“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19

When we are “rooted and grounded in love,” we gain “strength to comprehend” who Jesus is. Jesus is love, and we only learn from His heart infused in our heart! Ask Jesus for His love and He will give it to you because He is a generous God who desire that we would know His love.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-25

When we know God is merciful, we read the scriptures with this understanding of who God is. When we know God is faithful, we can trust Him when talk to Him in prayer. When we know the steadfast love of God never ceases, we can read every story in the Bible already knowing that God operates according to love in everything He does. We must use the key of love to unlock the heart of the Biblical narrative, since God acts with love.

In Matthew 13, Jesus explains why He speaks in parables where only some can understand.

“Then the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do you speak to them in parables?” And He answered them, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.” Matthew 13:10-11

Choose Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you gain the key to understand the scriptures. Spiritual sight. Holy Spirit power.

“For to the one who has, more will be given, and He will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.” Matthew 13:12-13

If Jesus were to have told everyone about the Kingdom of God directly, there would have been those who would not have believed and those who would have believed. He does not want to give away secrets of the Kingdom to those who are against His Kingdom. So he uses parables because the ones who truly believed would be able to understand the parables with spiritual discernment.

“But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear.” Matthew 13:16

Jesus does not need to convince anyone of the truth. Those who believe, will. Those who won’t believe, won’t.

“So that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ.” Ephesians 3:14-15

Speaking the truth must come from a place of love.

“Speaking the truth in love” Paul says in Ephesians. Truth spoken only for the aftershock of calamity is not love. Truth spoken to destroy another is not love. God does not speak to harm His people. He speaks to talk to His people and tell them what He needs to tell them because He is madly in love with them. There is never a false word on the tongue of God. He is always true and perfect.

God is never rude, hurtful, scheming, or deceptive in His words.

God is always loving, caring, empowering, challenging, and pure in His words.

Learn from Jesus and His Word. Test every word you hear by using the Word of God.

God continues to give you more insight about the scriptures, Himself, the Kingdom of God when you give your heart to Him.
