Listen To Jesus – Part 1

Part 1

Jesus’ people listen to Jesus and obey Him. Jesus wants to speak to you because He wants a personal relationship with you.

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27

When we listen to God’s voice, we follow that voice. Jesus’ voice is the voice of truth.

God’s voice is always speaking.

In Numbers 22, the Lord speaks to Balaam. The King of Moab seeks to find Balaam to curse Israel. God will not allow Israel to be cursed by him. Instead, God steps in to speak to Balaam.

“God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them. You shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.” Numbers 22:12

Nobody can curse who God calls blessed. God has the final say.

Balaam will go on to speak before the King of Moab in Numbers 23-24 and relay the message that he cannot curse Israel. When he does open his mouth, he speaks a blessing over Israel from the Lord.

However, Israel bows down to the gods of Moab in Numbers 25.

“These invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. So Israel yoked himself to Baal of Peor. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel.” Numbers 25:2-3

The Lord does not want His people to go to other gods. He wants to be the only God. He is the only God.

We listen to Jesus’ voice because He is God. His voice is the voice of truth. He keeps us from yoking ourselves to things that don’t bring us closer to Him.

Jesus Christ came to forgive us of our sins and bring us into right relationship with us and Him.
