Life Preserver – Part 1

Part 1

Jesus is a life preserver. Everything He does produces redemption.

In 1 Kings 3, King Solomon preserves life in a moment of crisis. He has wisdom from God to make the right judgment because He asked God for wisdom to lead His people well.

“The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom.”
‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭3‬:‭10‬ ‭

God blesses Solomon exponentially because He asks for wisdom as His first request. God blesses those who care for their people.

“Then the king said, “Let’s get the facts straight. Both of you claim the living child is yours, and each says that the dead one belongs to the other. All right, bring me a sword.” So a sword was brought to the king. Then he said, “Cut the living child in two, and give half to one woman and half to the other!”
‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬-‭25‬ ‭

True love preserves life. True love sacrifices its own blessing so that no one is harmed.

“Then the woman who was the real mother of the living child, and who loved him very much, cried out, “Oh no, my Lord! Give her the child—please do not kill him!” But the other woman said, “All right, he will be neither yours nor mine; divide him between us!” Then the king said, “Do not kill the child, but give him to the woman who wants him to live, for she is his mother!”
‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭3‬:‭26‬-‭27‬ ‭

King Solomon knew the real mother would not allow her baby to be killed. So everyone in the land is awestruck by Solomon’s wisdom.

“When all Israel heard the king’s decision, the people were in awe of the king, for they saw the wisdom God had given him for rendering justice.”
‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭3‬:‭28‬ ‭

God sees who truly loves. If you truly love, you rally for preservation of life instead of death.

Jesus seeks to give you abundant life.

“The Lord protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity in the land and rescues them from their enemies.”
‭‭Psalm 41‬:‭2‬ ‭
