Flash Dance

The presence of God incites dance and worship. Jesus loves when we rejoice in our love for Him.

“You turned my lament into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.”
‭‭Psalm 30‬:‭11‬ ‭

In 2 Samuel 6, King David dances joyously as the Ark of The Covenant comes into the city of Jerusalem. His innate reaction compels him to dance. He does not hold back from enjoying the moment of celebration.

“David was dancing with all his might before the Lord wearing a linen ephod.”
‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬

David flashes everyone with his dance because God’s presence evokes an immediate reaction. He does not have time to worry about clothing. He dances with what he has on. God cares about the heart more than anything.

David was chosen by God because his heart loved the Lord in all things. His dance reflects his heart. It says he danced “with all his might.” His light was so bright it caught the attention of Michal in the window, but she did not like the light of God on David. 2 Samuel 6:16 says Michal “despised him in her heart.” Darkness despises the light.

David is not shaken by Michal’s criticism, because His love for God is greater. He says “I will dance” in verse 21.

Keep dancing.

“David replied to Michal, “It was before the Lord who chose me over your father and his whole family to appoint me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel. I will dance before the Lord, and I will dishonor myself and humble myself even more. However, by the slave girls you spoke about, I will be honored.”
‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭6‬:‭21‬-‭22‬
