Jesus Celebrates

Confetti speckles the light glimmering through the night sky. Starry sparkles glimmer onto the dance floor. Laughter fills the air as dancers twirl and spin to the full moonlight. It’s a party. The DJ amps up the music, and high heels and stilettos are tossed to the side of the dance floor. Revelry sets the tone for this joyous occasion accentuated by champagne glasses and glowing eyes.

“You look beautiful, my love,” says the groom to his bride. He picks her up with strong shoulders and whisks her around like a ballerina.

“See how he melts for her,” they say.

He does.

Every time she looks at him.

“Attention!” sounds the party host. Every eye diverts its gaze. “I want to toast to the bride and groom.” He raises his glass. “May love be yours forever.”

He smiles with incandescent delight. He glows because they glow. He finds joy in their joy. He is the party host and He is Jesus… the giver of love’s timeless gift.

“Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to Him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and His bride has prepared herself.” Revelation 19:7

Jesus celebrates His Bride.

Jesus’ Bride beautifies Him. She accentuates His honor. She adorns His splendor.

Jesus celebrates His people.

Jesus’ people glorify Him. We highlight His luminescence. We complement His beauty.

“The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and His disciples were also invited to the celebration.” John 2:1-2

Jesus spends time celebrating others’ joyful moments because of His love for them. He esteems others’ special moments. Jesus makes everybody feel loved and seen.

Godly leaders celebrate others.

Jesus enjoys the party with the guests at the wedding in Cana along with His disciples because this is a part of His life’s purpose to be minister to His people. He spends time with the ones whom He came to save, heal, touch, and redeem.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

God celebrates what He does in your life because He is the one who made it happen. When God celebrates you, He acknowledges His own power. Worthiness bestows worthiness onto others.

Jesus blesses others every day, in both special moments and ordinary moments. Every moment is seen by your God who loves you and cherishes you as priceless to Him.

In this story, Jesus is going to do a miracle for the party guests because the wine has run out. Mary, Jesus’ mother, comes to Jesus and alerts him to the problem but Jesus is going to tell her that it is not time for him to do a miracle. Yet, he chooses to do the miracle anyways. Jesus does not like to withhold His power to act on someone’s behalf when he has the ability to do so. He steps in and does what nobody else can do.

“Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, He said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed His instructions.” John 2:6-8

Following Jesus instructions leads you to witness a miracle.

“When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), He called the bridegroom over. “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, He brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!”  John 2:9-10

Jesus saves the best for last. He always has a miracle up His sleeve. Nothing is ever hopeless with the Savior of eternity.

“This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed His glory. And His disciples believed in Him.” John 2:11

Jesus chose to reveal His power at someone else’s wedding.

Jesus loves to celebrate others. He will show up and do the impossible for others’ benefit because He cares about every person’s life and joy.

Jesus is a God who makes special moments come true for others. Jesus is a God who makes miracles for the ones who have lost hope. Jesus is a God who cheers you on. Jesus is a God who tells you well done, my beloved. Jesus is a God who esteems your gifts and talents. Jesus is a God who loves to see you ascend.

One day we will celebrate with Jesus in Heaven at the wedding supper of the Lamb as His Bride, clothed in white, dazzling.

“She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.” For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people. “And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And He added, “These are true words that come from God.”

Revelation 19:8-9
