love
true love
the highest treasure
the highest pleasure
of God’s delights
in a measure
of endless
possibilities
like sunset sensibilities
going down on rock divinities
going up in skillet proclivities
heightening tension
in the bleeding orange
theories implore
the desert sun sets
best when lovers are present
coyotes howl
in the torrent
of a warrant
issued: dead or alive
find the cacti at night
I keep my hands up
tracing the sun at dusk
to find the Milky Way
elevating its musk
as the moon comes up
needles don’t scare her
its talons don’t keep her
from searching its body
anchored strongly
in the Petrified Forest
solid rock fortified
begins to shine
in moonlight benign
against the horizon
gushing burgundy
navy blue synergy
onyx machetes
slice through captivity
holding a rare flower
whispers entreat her
thunder endears her
Jesus avails her
eternity claims her
in the lavender solstice
of Heaven’s glory
”And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.“ Colossians 3:14
