“This way!” Brianna says excitedly. Footsteps crunch through the grass as she crosses over the hill curving around the bend.
“But everyone is going that way,” Darla replied with concern. “It’s faster.”
“Yes, but it doesn’t lead to where we’re headed.”
“Where are we headed?”
“Zion.”
Brianna hesitates and then readjusts her backpack casually.
“I thought we were going to the top for sunset with the group.”
“Yes.” Darla glances at Brianna with a grin and keeps trekking into the forest meadows. “And the sunset is best seen en route to Zion. Trust me.”
“I’m trusting you.” Brianna steps over the bridge in tandem with her best friend as the sunlight descends farther into the tangerine horizon. “We don’t have much time left!”
In the distance, river rapids signal the nearby oasis. Darla runs.
“Hey Darla, wait!” Sounds Brianna.
She follows Darla to the river’s edge and her eyes enlarge at the sight of the hidden gem. Clear turquoise waters reflect tangerine and raspberry red hues as the sun dips into the horizon just ahead.
“You were right,” she breathes out with tranquility at the view.
Darla turns to smile, and then looks back at the sun setting over the waters. Frescoed orange and ruby red hues paint the sky effortlessly. “I told you Zion always leads us to the best.”
“Best sunset I’ve seen on the mountain,” says Brianna, astounded.
“Always follow God’s path, not everyone else’s.”
“Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” Matthew 15:14
Jump! Darla dives into the refreshing waters and floats under the luminescent, summer sun.
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
God’s path leads you into the oasis your heart craves.
His path deviates from the norm. It requires counter-cultural moves. It demands fearless loyalty.
Go rogue with Jesus and discover the satisfaction of His wonders.
“Everyone is going to be angry we’re missing!”
“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in His steps.” 1 Peter 2:21
“Following Jesus’ way is worth the short-term suffering you face.”
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21
Seeking Jesus aligns us with His plan and purpose. He proposes a plan that leads you into greater by His Holy Spirit.

“Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you.” 1 Corinthians 11:1-2
Going rogue is Jesus’ way. The author of 1 Corinthians received salvation in Jesus and then followed Jesus example, went rogue, left the Sanhedrin, accepted God’s mission, and began evangelizing. Then, he planted churches, rejected the cultural expectations placed on him, loved people, and wrote almost one third of the New Testament.
Jesus’ disciples also received a mission from Jesus while they walked with Him on the earth. Jesus knew this mission would take them places no one else was going. But they followed Him because He was their life source. They wanted supernatural love and eternal life flowing through their veins. So, they gave up everything to follow Jesus, even if it took them to far places.
Jesus wants you to be with Him. Connected heart and soul. Then, when physical locations change, stability will not be altered. Intimacy with Jesus keeps the heart steady in love.
It’s safe to go rogue with Jesus because you always have Jesus with you. He wants to be with you everywhere.
“The Lord appeared to Him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued My faithfulness to you.” Jeremiah 31:3
Faithfulness of God does not inhibit Him from going rogue. It’s His commitment to you and I that allowed Him to move about freely on earth and give Him the capacity to leave Heaven for our salvation. Freedom is tied to His faithfulness. He grinds everyday to ensure we have Heaven forever.
Follow Jesus.
Who we follow matters.
Who impacts us matters.
Who speaks into our lives matters.
We need to follow Jesus, and surround ourselves with those who love Jesus. Then, we do not have to fear falling into pits, for the Lord will take us higher with every circumstance. Jesus gives stamina and strength to endure every season.
You don’t have to allow others to have sway over your decisions if God is speaking to you to go another route: His route.
Choose God’s way and we find the path we were meant for.
Jesus may steer us differently than everyone else, but He will never steer us wrong. He is the only sure guide. The only One we look to. If we seek Jesus, we will see Him at work in our lives forever, creating a history of beautiful memories to look back on as we recount God’s involvement all along.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
