Fearless Freedom

Fearless. Reckless. Boundless. Swept up in the torrent of the Holy Spirit’s breath of life. It’s with you when you believe. Believe in Jesus. Believe in God. Jump, dream, fly, soar, risk, live, run your race and see all God said would manifest from His power. Jesus promises His presence every moment and every hour.

What are you believing God for?

God wants to see you believe He can, and He will show you He will.

In Mark 5, Jesus shows up for Jairus.

Jairus advocates for his daughter by falling at Jesus’ feet in need. He is afraid for her life. He’s desperate for a miracle, so much so that he lets a man he has never met touch his daughter. This man, Jesus, would be the only One who could heal her.

Jairus knew Jesus carried supernatural power unlike anyone else in his proximity. Jairus was a religious leader of the synagogue, in the circle that did not honor Jesus nor believe in Him as Messiah, but Jairus did.

Jairus’ faith positions him to receive from God.

“Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing Jesus, he fell at His feet and implored Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” And He went with him.” Mark 5:22-24

Jairus’ fear of his little girl’s death brings him to the feet of Jesus, where Jesus is going to replace this fear with a manifestation of His power that Jairus will never forget. Fear will transform into fearlessness.

Fear falls at the feet of Jesus. Fear gives in to the power of Jesus. Fear submits to the healing of Jesus when you let Jesus be Lord.

Fear transforms into awe and honor in the presence of Jesus, the Son of God. The way you respond to Jesus’ Lordship when you are most vulnerable reveals how you feel about Him.

Jairus proves his faith in Jesus as Messiah because of His response to Jesus in the midst of his daughter’s impending death. He believes in Jesus. But others in the house doubt Jesus’ ability.

“But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” Mark 5:36

Jesus reassures Jairus He can do a miracle, despite the others.

Many lingered in the space where Jesus dwelt but each one had their own decision to make about His Lordship.

Only you can decide for yourself what you believe about Jesus.

Jesus speaks faith over Jairus in the midst of the unbelief spewing from the rest of the household. God will not let people close to you disrupt His miracle for you. He speaks to you personally and intentionally. He acts according to your faith. He works according to your request. Your belief provokes Him to show you He can do anything.

Overcome fear by elevating your faith.

Jairus knows Jesus is Messiah and so Jesus continues to do what He came to do, all because of Jairus’ initial plea.

Jairus’ belief was enough for Jesus to act.

If God just has one person who believes, He will move with power.

“For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20-21

Obliterate your fear by believing in Jesus as God. He is the only antidote to your fear. What has you confined and bound? Who is limiting you?

Jesus never allows anybody to limit Him.

“And He allowed no one to follow him except Peter and James and John the brother of James.” Mark 5:37

Jesus needed these three believing disciples close to Him for this miracle. Who you have close to you affects you. Jesus knew their faith was strong, so He invites them into close quarters with Him. To see what nobody else could see. These three are the same three disciples who would see the transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain in Mark 9. Jesus lets you see Him when He knows your faith is unwavering. Jesus did not need anyone who doubted Him to come with Him in this life or death moment. Miracles blossom in the presence of belief.

Belief in Jesus provokes your love for Him.

Do you love Jesus when all chaos breaks loose? Are you willing to give up everything for Him? Those who need a miracle love Jesus and see His love tangibly given for them.

“Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement.” Mark 5:41-42

Amazement. Shock. Eyes wide open as the eyes of Jairus’ daughter open to the light of day shining on her from Jesus’ face. Everyone else had prayed and implored her to rise, but no one could do it. Everyone else had cried from sorrow and wished her to stand, but no one could make her stand and walk around freely except for Jesus.

Jesus makes you walk freely.

Jesus works miracles for those who believe in His power, regardless of what others have to say about it.

Fearless faith would overcome Jairus at the sight of his daughter coming back to life. The fear that provokes you is the fear that invokes the Lord to fill your with fearlessness. Courage. Boldness. Bravery Audacity.

You need Jesus’ faith to be fearless. You need an awareness of your eternal life in Jesus to override every threat of fear to your mind.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

When you live immortal, you are not afraid of anything.

Don’t let anybody or anything shake your faith.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed.” Luke 4:18

Proclaim your freedom in Jesus with boldness.

“How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways.” Psalm 128:1

Fear death and you lose your power, but fear God and you rise above life itself. You ascend to the immortal state of eternal life through salvation in Jesus and nobody can take this security away from you. Salvation is yours.

“Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear,
    and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.” Psalm 2:10-12

To fear God means to not be afraid. Fearing the One who is all-powerful places you in the hands of the Almighty, whereby every worry of your heart is known and handled by the all-powerful One. Your fear becomes awe instead of fright. Your fear becomes honor instead of panic. Your fear becomes anticipatory excitement for what God is going to do.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!” Psalm 111:10

Thank you Jesus for your miracle working hands that obliterate every fear by Your presence. Faith rises up in Your name. May we trust You with every moment of our lives.
