Jesus Deserves Honor

Honor the Name of Jesus. Speak about Jesus. Tell of Jesus’ renown. Delight in Jesus’ royalty. He is the King and He deserves to be honored as such.

“You are the one we trust to bring about justice; above all else we want Your name to be honored.” Isaiah 26:8

King Jesus walks into the room and every eye pivots to behold Him. Souls bow to glorify Him. Sounds pause to hear what He will say. Royalty does this. It captivates the attention of every person around them. Jesus captivates our adoration. The King who deserves every praise is the same King who takes off His crown to lavish you with His own royalty. A King of worth honors others.

You are royal in Jesus’ eyes.

Jesus honors you and me in His Kingdom!

Jesus honors the disciples because He has a wealth of honor to overflow from His own essence. He cannot be anything other than who He is.

In John 13, Jesus washes His disciples dirty feet with His own towel wrapped around His waist. He understands the extra time He will need to take following this offering in order to make Himself clean. So Jesus not only demonstrates selfless love and royal honor by how He treats His disciples, He also demonstrates humility in how He manages His time by giving up His own in order to serve them.

“It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for Him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.” John 13:1

The ones who know how to honor are the ones who know how to love to the end. Lavish love honors. Generous love honors.

“Do you understand what I have done for you?” He asked them. “You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I Am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” John 13:12-15

Jesus teaches us what pure and true honor is.

You deserve honor because you belong to Jesus. He is the highest King. He lavishes us with highest honor.

Honor others with your love. When you spend time in relationship with Jesus, you find that time stands still for Him. So it stands still for you. Love is timeless. Love is infinite. Love is eternal.

Love pours out love. Grace pours out grace. Bravery pours out bravery. Honor pours out honor.

Honor prioritizes another’s needs above its own immediate needs. Honor covers another’s sins. Honor speaks with love. Honor reigns with bravery. Bravery gives its life instead of seeking to preserve its life. Honor rejects conforming to the world and surrounding culture. Honor lives for the glory of the King and His love to made manifest on the earth.

Honor is first given to the One who sacrificed the most. Who gave eternal life. Who gave His crown to invite us into Heaven forever with Him. Jesus deserves highest honor. Do you want Jesus to be King? Jesus must be King for you to experience relationship with Him.

When you give Jesus highest honor, you honor yourself also. You honor your devotion to the Lord by honoring your love and commitment to Him.

I want Jesus to be King. Reign forever, Lord. You are the One we are living for. His delight is our highest reward. His love is our endless amore. You want Jesus to be King because He is the One who invented the universe and everything in it. No one runs it like He does.

When you honor Jesus as your King, you open the door for deeper connection.

When you honor Jesus as King, you learn how to honor everyone around you.

One who neglects to honor the Lord is one who neglects to honor people around them as well. A lack of honor is a contagion that must be rid out by pure relationship with God. The devil knows Jesus is King but he does not honor Jesus. Thus, He cannot coexist with Jesus.

In Heaven, those who honor Jesus as Lord will find rest in this place of bliss and those who do not, will also not be able to be in the same space. Everyone has a choice: honor Jesus as King or refuse to honor Jesus as King.

How you treat Jesus shows in how you treat others. Love Jesus extravagantly and you love others extravagantly. How you experience Jesus treating you also shows in how you expect others’ to treat you. When you know Jesus respects you and honors you, you you expect others to do the same and you find it strange when they fail to do so. This is a perfect reminder of Jesus’ supremacy. He is a perfect God and everyone must aspire to His leadership in order to succeed.

No one is above Jesus.

Honor the Lord as holy. Honor the Lord as King.
