“How long would you search?” he asks.
“As long as it takes to find the truth,” says the king.
Red dirt and velvet grass crunch under the footsteps of explorers on a mission. Wind blows through the open air as mountains loom ahead. The forest opens wide. Daylight turns to sunset and sunset turns to dusk. They pitch camp. Fire warms their hands as they dwell under the starry sky to rest.
“Hoot hoot!” sounds the owl in the moonlit forest. The boy turns his head.
“Don’t worry,” says the king with zealous eyes. “It keeps watch faithfully. To ensure the forest remains safe from intruders.”
“I’m not scared,” the boy insist.
The king stands up. Hands him a wide-brimmed hat. “Come with me into the narrows of the forest.”
“Right now?”
“You said you weren’t scared,” The king reminds him with a grin.
“I thought daylight was the best time to search?”
“Some of the greatest mysteries are found when they are hidden in far away places. If we want to know the truth, we need to go where no one else ventures. And see what rests beyond the hidden veil.”
“You like this kind of stuff, don’t you?” says the boy with fascination.
“It’s a king’s glory to discover God’s hidden treasures,” exclaims the king with a brazen face and open eyes. “Love is the treasure.” Fearless, he stands ready to soar into the unknown. “Are you with me or are you with me?”
“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter and the glory of kings to search it out.” Proverbs 25:2
The king extends his hand. The boy accepts. Nods his head.
“Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love.” 1 John 4:18
“Show me your ways, my Lord.”
Fear dissipates in the flight on eagle’s wings.
“Leave everything else behind,” the king says. “You don’t need it anymore. We have all we need where we are going.”
Mysteries are tucked away in the hidden places where kings long to venture. The truth of God’s complexity is tucked away in the secret place of intimacy with Him. Real connection can unlock the door to His treasury of love. Where He is, you are fully taken care of.
Seek out Jesus. Search Him out. Find Him as He draws ever nearer to you.
God wants you to understand truth.
Jesus reminds His disciples of the truth of His words after the Pharisees’ attempted to question His identity in John 8.
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32
Jesus trusts that those who desire truth will discover truth. Jesus does not need to convince anyone of His identity. His followers know who He is and want to seek Him out to know Him more. Jesus gives truth as a gift to those who follow His Lordship.
“The secret counsel of the LORD is for those who fear Him, and He reveals His covenant to them.” Psalm 25:14

God’s Word makes it clear His love is imperative.
Love is the greatest thing of all His characteristics. The greatest of all virtues. The greatest of all goals. Love is meant to be yours. Love is meant to carry you through each day on wings like eagles soaring above the earth to the hidden places of Zion’s crown.
Love is a mystery meant to be found. The truth of the matter is Jesus died for you before you ever called on Him for rescue. Before you ever asked Him for help. Before you ever needed redemption.
Discover the mystery of love and the truth is made clear to you. God’s love is unconditional love.
“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since He did not spare even His own Son but gave Him up for us all, won’t He also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for His own? No one—for God Himself has given us right standing with Himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and He is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.” Romans 8:31-34
Jesus saw you and loved you while you were still in the midst of your sin. Now you are spotless and holy because of Jesus’ intentionality to claim you. His love burst within His heart so extravagantly that He came to earth to die for you and now no one can take you away from His unconditional love.
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
Paul, the author of Romans, discovered love on the road to Damascus in Acts 9. This love changed his life forever. It turned him from a killer to a lover.
