Safeguard Your Lover

I love your love. Because it’s real. It’s genuine. Proven. Tested. Unearthing it’s gold from Heavenly thrones even now in all the seasons we’ve travelled through. It’s resilient. Steady. Strong. The love He unveiled in the songs of highest skies where the angels smile and fly over us. Can you feel it? He’s smiling over us. For love is always enough to move His heart to jubilation. He loves love. Delights in love. Revels in love. Dances in love. Real love. The God who made hearts to encounter affections loves to see the displays of highest inflections of its substance. Genuine love. It’s ours. Genuine love.

“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.” Romans‬ ‭12:9‬ ‭

I hold onto You forever. A day would be evil if I had to live it without You, but I’ll never have to. You’re with me… everywhere. So I’m elated… every moment.

I hold fast to you

I cling to you

I melt in you

relax into

your arms

breathing deeply

of the alms

angels release

when seas retreat

at low tide

I’ll harbor with you

“For a day in your courts is better than 1000 elsewhere. I’d rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalm‬ ‭84:10‬ ‭

God says… Your love opens the door of My heart. Open up to Me, My love. I’ll be your gate keeper. Protecting the contents of your heart.

“I love those who love Me.” Proverbs‬ ‭8:17‬

Do you safeguard your lover?

Love shields it’s lover from the incoming threats of hurricanes and roaring waves.

Love survives the earthquake of glory shakes and cosmic rain.

He loves my love.

Because I love him when he’s up and when he’s down.

When he’s high and when he’s low.

When he’s ecstatic and when he’s broken.

Hope is spoken over him in heightened glows of holy notes of love and passion meant for him.

He needs my love… Consistently. Passionately. Intentionally.

Tell me your sentiments. I’ll safeguard your thoughts. Tell me your secrets. I’ll keep them locked in a vault only for us. Tell me your weaknesses. I’ll kiss the fragrance of the vulnerability kept between us. It’s always kept between us. Everything you say. It’s only for us.

“The secret counsel of the Lord is for those who honor Him, and He reveals His covenant to them.” Psalm 25:14‬

My love is yours. Only yours.

God wants to be yours. Only yours.

In Luke chapter 4, we learn from Jesus and how he receives love and refuses love based on the authenticity of that love. When Jesus ministered on the earth, the demons praised Him. They said His name. They knew His identity even more than people declared. But Jesus did not need their praise.

“And demons came out of many, crying, “You are the Son of God!” But He rebuked them and would not allow them to speak.” Luke‬ ‭4:41‬

Why would Jesus not let the demons speak if they were saying He was God?

They were evangelizing, after all. They were in fact, acknowledging the divinity and God-head of Jesus’ identity. Anyone in proximity of this would have heard the declaration and known who Jesus was. But for the demons to say Jesus is God does not articulate His divinity the way He needs it to be. He needs those who actually want Him to be God to say He is God. Not for those who rebel against His Kingship to say it. God did not ordain demons to be His mouthpiece in the world. He ordained imperfect humans. The demons know He is God because they are supernatural beings and they know who rules the universe. But they don’t want Him to be King. So, salvation is not only about belief. Everyone believes in God deep down. But do you want God to be God? Do you love Him?

God wants your love. Real love.

Jesus does not want fake love. He wants love from those who love Him. Who choose Him to be King.

God safeguards those who love Him.

“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30

This is the greatest commandment: to love God. You set yourself up for protection when you make God your lover.

God takes care of those who commit to Him 100%.

The apostle Paul discovered this protection from God in his own life ministering for the Lord. In writing to the church in Rome, he begins by asking them this question in Romans chapter 8…

Who can separate us from the love of Christ?
Can affliction or anguish or persecution
or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?” Romans 8:35

During this time, the Roman Christians experienced intense persecution for their faith in Jesus Christ. Fear ran rampant and death lingered in the shadows. It’s likely they asked this same questions… will anything separate us from the God in whom we believe? If this goes south, will God still be with us? Paul says yes.

“In all these things we are more than victorious
through Him who loved us.
38 For I am persuaded that not even death or life,
angels or rulers,
things present or things to come, hostile powers,
39 height or depth, or any other created thing
will have the power to separate us
from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!” Romans 8:37-39

I highlight the words “not even” because Paul says not even all of these negative threats, persecutions, fears can “have the power” to “separate us from the love of God.” Nothing separates you from God’s love. Nothing. When you are His, that is a final decision. Done. Irrevocable. Engraved in Heaven.

God’s love for you is not contigent on you feeling like you deserve it. It’s all contingent on you saying yes to Him and Jesus’ sacrifice is more than enough to make you worthy in His eyes. If Jesus’ sacrifice is not enough, then His death was in vain and the whole world must weep and wail for that. But if His sacrifice is enough… then you have the most priceless, amazing and monumental gift of eternal life forever waiting for you in a love relationship with Jesus! This is our hope! Our victory! Our love! Our protection! Our covenant! Our security forever!

You deserve to be called God’s royalty because He HImself says so.

God says you are a royal heir. So step into your identity!

Rock that crown and wear your jewels. God wants to display your beauty to all the Heavens because He delights in what He created. He likes you. He loves you. He cherishes you. He wants you. He knows you’re human and He made you to be. So embrace who you are and love who He ordained you to be… and one day, you will dwell with Him forever.

God safeguards His Beloved because He is confident in His power. No one overrules Him.

Safeguard your lover and be confident in your essence. Be a safe haven for them. Everyone longs to be known by the one they love. Love is the safest and most fruitful place for growth and dynamic life to happen, because you can share all of who you are with someone you love and feel the satisfaction from that disclosure. While sharing your heart with a friend may be cathartic in some levels, there is nothing as healing and cathartic as sharing your entire heart with your lover. It’s the best place for vulnerability to happen. God designed the human heart this way. So that love could multiply and grow exponentially with the two-fold vulnerablity of two lovers exposing their souls to one another. Love ignites from this fire of being known.

Be known by the one you love. It’s the answer to your joy renewal. You will be much less stressed and at ease when you have a lover with whom you can share every thought with and know that it’s appreicated and held sacred between the two of you.

Protect your heart from those who cannot cherish your secrets.

“Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a simple babbler.” Proverbs‬ ‭20:19

Lead by example in showing your lover how to listen well and harness those secrets well.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8

Learn from God’s way of communicating with us. He talks to you one-on-one. Intimately. Not disclosed with anyone else. It’s all between you and Him. You can trust Him. Talk to Him and He will hear you secrets and hold them tenderly, with love for you as His own. He loves you… remember how He loves you… He wants to hear from you.

I have so much to tell you

can I tell you

everything

I want to

tell you

what I dream of

when nobody is around

We were made to share the deep contents of the heart.

A heart that keeps everything to itself is a heart that stops up with blockage like a lake where nothing goes in or out. Healthiness cannot flow there. There needs to be an exchange of ideas, words, thoughts, opinions, all centered in mutual love and respect. So that you can freely share those things with someone who values it.

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29

When you have soemthing to say that benefits someone else, do not be afraid to say it. It would be unwholesome to say anything less than what they need. Speak the whole word. The whole affirmation. The whole encouragement. The whole compliment. The whole praise. Don’t withhold anything. Humans were created to hear encouragement and it means something coming from the one who knows you the most and loves you for you.

“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!” Psalm 141:3

When God safeguards your mouth, you speak according to His heart.

It may seem that God would shut your mouth from speaking when He is in control, but it’s actually the opposite. God anoints your lips to speak for Him when He wants to speak through you and He gets to steer it and fill it. Let Him speak how He wants to and don’t get in the way of what God says needs to be said.

“For the Lord God does nothing without revealing His secret to His servants the prophets.” Amos‬ ‭3:7‬

God has secrets too. ‭And He will tell you what you need to say based on His own way of thinking and we must yield to that. God wants to speak to the heart, and since He can see the heart He always knows what to say. Trust the Lord’s words and let it flow.

Speak to others according to their heart-needs. Don’t worry about what it sounds like. If someone needs that encouragement, then say it. Better to say what uplifts someone’s soul and be misunderstood by a stranger, than to not say that encouragment and leave your lover without the affirmation they needed. Your lover is your priority.  You cannot fear what people think when it comes to encouraging others. When you have something good and uplifting to say, share it.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Remember the affirmations of the Lord.

God says He is with you wherever you go, so you will never be in harm’s way. Let His promise be your confidence.

safeguard me

can you safeguard me

because you love me

I guarded you

because I love you

always loved

always will

our love

is a harbor filled

with love that’s pure and real

The river rapids washed us down the frothy water fusion to a horizon I couldn’t quite see yet. But then I did. See it. The waterfall was up ahead and the dip over would take us over the cliff, but I couldn’t bear to watch you fall. I jumped raft. Grabbed the ropes. Tied the tree. Pulled you back to me and shielded you from the surging water running over the edge into the swirling deep. I’d do it again if I had to. Just like the ocean waves rise and split when it has to. Because God told it to. God tells us to rest in His love. I like to. Dwell in His love… His love will never be undone. It’s always burning. Always yearning. Always churning for you and I. You will always be enough for Him. Be held by love. Forever His Beloved.

“When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.”

Isaiah 43:2
