You’re A Treasure Chest

It’s a phenomenon. A mystery. The paragon of luminosity. The fusion of immortality. The golden rays of divinity harbored within you like an honored vessel… it is Jesus in you.

Jesus is in you.

Treasure chests sparkle from the inside. Where opals shine and diamonds enshrine a royal case of beauty inlaid with gold glowing by the emeralds and the sapphires. Then God opens the case to highlight the miracle He made… Jesus in you.

Jesus is in you.

When Jesus is in your, your outlook changes. What you see is a result of Jesus’ own eyes in you. His heart in you. His perspectives in you. His ways in you. His love in you. His voice in you. You see the world differently and yourself differently because of Jesus indwelling you.

The apostle Paul speaks about the power of Christ indwelling us and how it affects our human experience on earth, in Romans chapter 8. He says…

“For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.” Romans 8:5

You see everything fresh because of the Holy Spirit in you.

Your future carries hope because you see it by the Spirit. Your daily routine possesses vigor and excitement because you see it by the Spirit. Your hope for every questions carries optimism and expectancy because you see by the Spirit.

“For the outlook of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace.” Romans 8:6

Jesus’ outlook on your life is promising and vibrant with good things.

What is your outlook?

Your outlook is determined by whether you are living by the Spirit of Christ or your own flesh. The flesh, when referred to in contrast to the spirit, is a term used to desribe the condition of the soul of man before redemption and salvation. The flesh that Paul describes here is a part of the human that carries no supernatural power and has not been renewed by Christ. This is not the same as the term “flesh used: in Ezekiel where the Lord says…”I will put flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD’” in Ezekiel 37:6. This passage defines the flesh as a substance of life given to something that was formerly dead. So we have to pay attention to the terms used and how they are used when exegeting scripture.

Here in Romans 8, Paul is highlighting the power of the Spirit in contrast to the natural flesh of the man without a spirit.

This power of the Spirit only comes from Jesus Christ living within you.

Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you…” Romans 8:8-9

Paul continues to teach on this subject from the outlook of Jesus Christ as the key to salvation. Thus, the flesh is redeemed by Jesus and you can live by the Spirit of God in you. But without salvation from Jesus Christ, you have no Spirit to be able to lead and guide you, and therefore you cannot please God. It’s not that God is not pleased with you. It is that you literally have no means by which to connect and hear from God without a Spirit of God in you. You need God’s own Spirit in you in order to please Him, connect with Him, be one with Him, hear Him, follow Him, talk to Him, and be loved by Him. God loves all of His creation but He can only interact with us by the Spirit and He did all the work neccessary to make sure all the world could have this if they want it. So it remains each person’s choice.

Romans 8 verse 9 goes on to say…

“Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.”

A person cannot belong to Jesus without having a relationship with Jesus. It does not work. Because there is no connection nor communication.

If you want to have a relationship with Jesus, He wants to have that with you also… come to Him and belong to Him. The One you were created for.

“But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is your life because of righteousness.” Romans 8:10

Paul points out that even when you live in a body that still has a flesh and would render you dead because of sin, you are still made righteous because of Jesus in you. “The Spirit if your life” he says.

The Spirit is your life.

Jesus is in you.

Don’t forget the power of Jesus in you.

“Moreover if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, the one who raised Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive through his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11

We have to me renewed and made alive with Jesus in order to have a Spirit that is alive and ready for Heaven. This Spirit also gives a Heavenly outlook on everything we experience here. So when you experience persecutions, you see it with an outlook of strength and victory. When you experience temptation, you see it with an outlook of training and growth. When you experience hardships, you see it with an outlook of maturation and contentment. In all things, we need the Spirit of Jesus to give us the joyful and accurate outlook on our lives.

God loves your essence.

Because He imparts His Son Jesus into you.

The King of glory resides in you.

“To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:27‬

Jesus lives in you to raise your soul to the heights of Heaven where He sings over you. It’s our hope. The hope of glory.

“For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when He comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:19-20‬

Love is your joy. The precious gemstones in the treasure chest of our hearts radiating from the glory of the Lord indwelling you with the Son of God.

Love is your hope. The prevailing expectancy of life forever with the One who knows you, sees you, hears you, chose you, loves you… because He is in you.

Jesus is in you.

It’s glorious. Meritorious. The way His strength indwells you. Upholds you. Adorns you. Inspires you.

Jesus is in you.

It’s awe-inspiring. Power-inciting. The way Heaven opens up for you. Awakens you. Becomes you. Enlivens you.

Jesus is in you.

He will always be in awe of you. In love with you. In tune with you. Because He lives in you. Always with you. Ever for you.

Be one with me, He says…

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, having been rooted and grounded in love.” Ephesians‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭

everything glorious

because the King of glory

indwells you

This doctrine of Jesus within you is not just symbolic, it’s a literal reality of His Spirit inside of you causing you to walk in His footsteps. Even though he was the only one to never sin, He grants us this kind of intimacy to be indwelled by Him so that we can choose to walk in His power and see the effects of that indwelling.

For God, who said “Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.” 2 Corinthians 4:6-7

God is the one who shines in your heart.

You and I are the earthen vessels.

Power comes from God.

Power comes from God and is attributed to Him, not us, and this is amazing! Because how can ordinary humans possess such extraordinary power? Through Jesus in you! We are like earthen vessels who just carry the power of a Heavenly eternal being isnide of us. Isn’t that crazy?! That is the love of God. That He would be so gracious and kind and generous to impart His own self into us. His love compels Him. Love will make you do anything. And God loves us so much that He lets His own power be in us.

You carry power and breakthrough for yourself and for others because of Jesus in you.

Let the King of Heaven reign in your heart. The King who chose you to beautify the world like a work of art. You are His joy. You are His love. You are His heart. You are His treasure. Be cherished by the One who holds you close in His arms and never lets go. The King of royalty. He calls you His own. You will always be the one He treasures.
