Encounter Him

“Be near me, God.” The heartbeat pulses with urgency to see His face. Creation groans with anticipation to behold the way He makes the earth quake and meadows break into singing. He calls you. Through the whispering willows, he finds you. In the navy-blue midnight, He beckons you. “I’m here,” I say. Leaves aflutter surround you in the cyclone of His glory coming close.

In the noonday sun, He shines on you. In the rainbow-painted rain He kisses you. In every moment, He awakens you. Living and breathing. Beholding and dreaming. Wishing and seeing every plan of His heart come to pass. His love reigns supreme.

Eyes find you in the lightning bolts of symphonic thunder. He is the brightest light arrayed in the sky of wonder. Sunsets cascade by the lava rock of teal blue waters. Tangerine and passionfruit dye the atmosphere’s canvas with its aura of perfect bliss. His Heavens feel like that. Perfect bliss.

“As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed so that His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as light.” Matthew 17:2

I want you to see Me face to face… Jesus says.

God is pleased with the interaction of God and man.

“But even as He spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My dearly loved Son, who brings Me great joy. Listen to Him.” The disciples were terrified and fell face down on the ground. Then Jesus came over and touched them. “Get up,” He said. “Don’t be afraid.” Matthew 17:5-7

Fearless love permeates the molecules of oxygen in His proximity. You absorb the nutrients of His enrichment when you stand close.

Behold Him. Taste Him. Savor Him. Encounter Him.

A face to face experience rattles you to the core. We want to see Jesus’ glorious face just as He is. Heaven unveils glorious Jesus just as He is. Heaven comes to earth at the moment your Savior is there, with you forever.

God the Father loves His Son. He watches from Heaven with approval and freedom as His Son ministers throughout the earth. Dearly loved. Joy-invoking. Trustworthy of speaking. These are some of the ways God thinks about His Son. We can trust this Jesus whom the Father is pleased with.

“As they went back down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.” Matthew 17:9

Public sentiments made known. Glorious sightings released.

All of the private moments with Jesus that the disciples encountered and witnessed would have its moment to be declared. But they had to wait until Jesus finished what He came to do until all of those secrets could be told.

God has a time for every phase of His ministry. Jesus has a time for the fullness of His words to be expressed without having to hold it back anymore. We learn from Jesus as we use discernment to know what the Holy Spirit wants us to say in that moment and what we should wait to say until the moment is right.

“But when they hand you over, don’t worry about how or what you should speak. For you will be given what to say at that hour.” Matthew 10:19

Jesus told the disciples there would be an impartation of the Holy Spirit given to them in the moment they would need to speak. Thus, they did not have to worry about planning what to say beforehand. Everything was spontaneous. Everything spontaneous was actually bathed in the Holy Spirit because God was speaking through them to ensure all that needed to be said was said. How could a person possible speak spontaneously and get it right? Because they are relying on God and not themselves. So, God is able to speak boldly instead of the person speaking. We want God to speak for us.

God wanted to speak through them in the moment. The Holy Spirit wants to release a word through your heart that only He can say, and so we wait on Him to speak through us. Looking at Jesus’ face gives you the Holy Spirit’s words.

like a trillion lights

in galaxies high

above me

You’re high above me

so high above me

in Your arms

to fly with You
