Euphoric environments. The space where technicolor fireflies invigorate your eyes. The place where butterflies and mountian lions comprise our circle of life. Higher resolution bursts with things you’ve never seen before. Angels. Celestial life. Cosmic light. Jesus wants to bring us into His paradise. Heaven’s oasis.
Jesus likes His environment. The one He cultivates and creates every second of the day in your life and your heart.
He is the God who unleashes love and life upon the earth. Watch Him as He generates rebirth into the Garden of Eden where He designed us to walk with Him in person. New Heaven and New Earth is our destiny.
“Our citizenship is in Heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:20
Life on earth is enriching and meaningful because of Jesus. He is the reason for living.
David penned His heart’s desire for more of God in the psalms, which hold all of his poetic writings. From emotions of happiness to emotions of anguish and pain and turmoil, David processes his feelings and comes to the conclusion that God is the answer to every human emotion. God is the one He trusts in. God is the one who makes us come to life.
The psalmist, David, said… “You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Psalm 16:11
God promises you pleasures. Did you know that? The reason why we gravitate towards pleasure in this world is because we were designed to experience pleasure in various ways and God wants to fulfill that. He understands our longings and He understands our desires.
Your desires will point you to God when you take those things to Him and find Him there. He wants you to find Him there. And seek Him there. And stay with Him there. And fall in love with Him there. Being with Jesus will open the treasure chest of His desires for you because He begins to plant those desires into your heart.
“Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
What if what you desire is a direct result of God putting that in your heart?
Then that means God is the one who will fill it.
I want the desires that God has access to… the ones that are saturated with substance and make you feel satisfied. You can tell a difference between pleasures that satisfy and those that don’t, and between pleasures that satisfy short term and pleasures that satisfy long-term. Do you want short-term pleasures or long-term pleasures?
We all make the mistake of giving into short-term pleasures in this life. This was the very first sin of humankind, where Eve ate the forbidden fruit. God does not forbid what He wants to give you. We must learn to cultivate self-discipline when it comes to how we provide for our needs. Some needs are acceptable to satisfy and others are not. We cannot expect to grow in our spiritual health and vitality if we feed ourselves things that come from unholy sources. Feed yourself godly, positive, encouraging, challening, true nourishment and you will experience a fuller feeling of satisfaction. Pleasures that are long-term satisfy long-term and you have eternal access to it without needing to strain to get it. What God has for you is for you.
Isaiah 58:11 says, “And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”
The Lord will satisfy your desire. He satisfies you. He completes you. He knows you. He takes care of you. Cultivate an intimate relationship with the Lord in order to receive this mutual love and provision from Him.
“As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with Your likeness.” Psalm 17:15
Notice the progression here: behold God’s face. Be satisfied.
If you want to be satisfied, look at God.
There is nothing more satisfying than looking at God, the King of kings, and knowing He loves you and wants to be in relationship with you. There is nothing more life-thrilling than being filled with a literal Holy Spirit that amplifies your senses to take in the world around you with spiritual discernment and heightened awareness. You see what you have never seen before. You hear what you had never heard before. You feel what you have never felt before and your heart feels elevated above the ground you walk on.
Go to God for what you need. Spend time alone with Him in prayer and communication to align your heart with Him and experience His light invading every part of you. Read His Word and get to know who He is, what He says, how He loves you and how we can aspire to higher ways of living.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
God is a good God who wants to give you good things. He is generous, kind, extravagant, lavish, and He knows what He is doing. We must be patient to wait on that and let Him be God even when we feel we don’t have all we need. If we truly needed it, God would give it. And if He delays a thing, it is because there is a greater miracle attached to it that will not only bless you, but it will bless everyone around you. Be patient so that everyone can be blessed by what God wants to do through you.
Abraham was given a promise from God in Genesis 17 that he would be the Father of many nations when he had no children. He waited for years for this to unfold. Why did God make him wait so long? Because miracles are meant to bless generations of people… and God does not rush it when He makes a miracle. He can bless you in an instant, or He can bless you in years to come. It’s all up to Him. He sees the world and how it is interconnected and how the blessing fits in with all of it in the overall picture.
This promise God made was not just about Abraham, it was about the whole nation of Israel. So God orchestrated it in a specific way. God gives perfect blessings meant for monumental miracles. He wants to give you the good stuff. So let Him do what He does best: be God.
If He has not given what you need yet, it’s because it’s not available yet. Waiting is not easy but it’s an inevitable part of life and we must learn how to wait faithfully if we are going to live strong and full of faith.
I have learned in all my years that waiting on the Lord is one of the best gifts my spirit could ask for. I grow in wisdom the more I wait on the Lord and I learn more about myself and those around me. I flourish in my own purpose and learn how to live independent of others and solely dependent on God for what I need.
When we learn priceless insights from waiting, we realize that God actually was not making us wait at all. He was giving us the gift of our own joy by making us into the best version of ourself that we can become.
Waiting transforms you into a treasure.
“Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.” James 5:7-8
You need time with the Lord, alone and dedicated to Him, to wait on the Lord if you want to become the fullness of all your potential. That is where the refining happens. That is where the beauty develops. That is where the wisdom comes from. Spend time waiting on the Lord, hearing from Him, receiving from Him, worshipping Him, and cultivatling your spiritual life. He destined you to rise to greatness…. the greatness of the Lord’s light and love shining within you.
You are God’s holy Beloved.
Remember who you are.
God made you to shine. So shine abashedly and absorb every word of truth from His spirit.
Realize that waiting does not mean you are in lack. Waiting means you know your worth and will not succumb to anything less than what you deserve. Waiting means that God values you and will not give you anything other than what is meant for you.
“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
When you hope in the Lord while you wait, the Bible says you gain strength. This is a real result. When you choose to believe God can do what He says He will do, you gain power inside of you like never before. Your mind is more resilient than ever and nothing shakes you. Nothing discourages you. Why? Because you know undoubtedly God will do what He said. So you increase your strength every single day while you work out your emotions with the Lord just like King David did.
Kings know how to come to the Lord in vulnerability.
Kings know how to be strengthened by the Lord in open communication.
Kings live with an open heart that only opens with the Lord and with those who are in close relationship with them.
Protect your environment and your heart.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23
Your heart is priceless. Guard it. Treasure it. Protect it. Everything you are flows from it. So it needs to be healthy and whole for you to be healthy and whole. It needs to have freedom to express itself and be open with the Lord. Then God can touch your heart.
You need a holy life source in your heart for your heart to function the way it was designed to function.
“May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 3:5
Steadfastness comes from surrendering your heart to Jesus and letting your heart be led by the Lord. Host Him in your heart. Let Him channel His emotions through you. He creates your stability. He creates your steady foundation.
“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” Ephesians 3:17
My steady environment is Jesus’ presence in my soul and heart.
Anything that disrupts that presence cannot coexist with me.
“Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?” 1 Corinthians 6:14
Do you want the light?
I know you want the light… Your eyes light up when you look at it. Let the light in…
God wants you in His life.
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” John 15:4
The light of Jesus beckons you to be in an intimate relationship with Him where you both are intertwined. He sets the tone. He sets the environment. He is your environment.
Jesus’ environment produces fruit, or good things, in your life. Fruit from Jesus make you feel good on the inside… this is why He wants us connected to Him. Other remedies won’t work. But Jesus raises you to euphoria every time you come to Him. Let Him be your God. Experience deeper love, rest, peace, contentment, and satisfaction.
You bear fruit when you stay connected to Jesus. You grow. You elevate. Because you have a higher standard challenging you into betterment and spiritual thriving. Don’t leave that place of blessing.
Stay in Jesus’ presence.
Don’t leave His love. Don’t leave His miracle. Don’t leave His promised land… He still has more for you. Wait for Him to do what He envisioned just for you.
“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise… Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:9
Jesus is your euphoric environment.
