It’s a non-negotiable. Purity. Sexual purity. Heart purity. Mind purity. Body purity. Soul purity. This is why you need the Spirit. The Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit empowers your purity by the holiness of His Spirit in you. We need the Lord to live purely, and we can because of Him. Absorb His Spirit in yours by the generosity of His impartation.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Honor the Lord with the Holy Spirit you received from Him by honoring your body. Purity is required.
Biblical purity requires sexual purity in your heart, soul, mind, body and spirit.
“You say, “Food was made for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” (This is true, though someday God will do away with both of them.) But you can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.”
2 Corinthians 6:13
The Bible says our bodies were not made for sexual impurity. They were made for the Lord. We belong to Him first and foremost! Using your body for impure lusts of the flesh contaminates your connection with God.
God wants you to glow with sexual purity. You flourish in your purpose when you rid out the negative distractions that manifest from sexual impurities.
What is sexual purity?
Sexual purity is holiness in your God-given sexuality.
God gave you a sexual body, but with a holy intent, not an unholy intent. God designed the human body to be sexual in nature in the context of biblical marriage as a gift. However, sexuality is not the only attribute of a human. We have a mind too. We have a heart too. We have a spirit and a soul. We have goals, dreams, responsibilities, mission, and purpose God gave us to live for. We live for God, and God lives to take us to Heaven. Focus on the Lord.
In Romans 1:21-30 the apostle Paul talks about the issue of sexual immorality. Romans 1:21 points out that the originator of sexual immorality: the dishonoring of God.
“For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” Romans 1:21
When you dishonor God, your heart becomes darkened and separated from Him. Being separated from God is foolishness as verse 21 says. You cannot live nor thrive without God. Thus, sexual sin begins to creep into your life.
“Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves.” Romans 1:24
Notice the irony here in verses 21 and 24. Verse 21 says they dishonored God. Therefore, God lets them dishonor their bodies in verse 24. When you dishonor God, you dishonor your body. Dishonoring your body with sexual sin is a direct result of your initial decision to dishonor God.
“Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, He abandoned them to their futile thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.” Romans 1:28-29
Paul concludes that sexual sin only leads to more sin that contamines the human. Why? Because sexual sin distorts a human’s healthy mental capacity and it produces futile thinking. Futile thinking is small-minded thinking that limits you from seeing the big picture about anything in the world around you. You can no longer connect with a holy God because your mind cannot connect on that level. Sexual sin degrades the human mind because of its enslavement over your thought processes. Thus, God decides to give them over to this lust of their minds and bodies as Romans goes on.
“Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.” Romans 1:24-27
How do we live with sexual purity?
Build your life upon the One who epitomizes holiness and purity: God Himself.
“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?” Exodus 15:11
God’s holiness is what we need to do what He requires. But we can only do what He requires if we possess His Holy Spirit.
God says… “And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in all My statutes and be careful to obey My rules.” Ezekiel 36:27

- Sexual purity pertains to all people, no matter the marital status. (Lev, 11:45, Matt. 5:48, 2 Cor. 6:13)
“Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1
Take your spirit to God and He will give you His Holy Spirit to empower you for sexual purity. Romans 8:6 says, “the mind goverend by the flesh is death but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” Being led by the Spirit increases peace for you. Heavenly peace.
Sexual purity is the paradigm of Heaven. There will be no sexual immorality present there, which is why God speaks in His Holy scripture thorugh Paul to say in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” God is creating a new Heaven and earth where we will not be contaminted with temptation nor sin. Sexual impurity will not be possible.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because it is a mark of the Holy Spirit in you.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because it is God’s requirement.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because it anchors your marriage in holiness.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because it protects you from tempation.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because your mind’s purity and clarity depends on it.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because it cultivates virtues of God such as integrity, honesty, maturity, and wisdom.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because Jesus’ followers are called to be holy.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because the world needs to see God’s people who practice what they preach.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because Jesus is in your heart.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because ministry requires holiness.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because it empowers you with the Holy Spirit.
Sexual purity is a non-negotiable because it is not impossible. You can do it. Living for Jesus by the Holy Spirit makes it easy.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Galatians 5:22-24
Sexual purity is possible when you have the fruits of the Spirit blossoming in your heart.
If you belive that sexual purity is impossible for you then you are saying that you do not believe in Jesus Christ. Jesus says it is possible to live purely and be covered by His blood for your past so you can move ahead in purity. Believe what He says about you! You are whole and loved by Jesus! Sexual immorality no longer has to have a hold on you! Let it go and pursue Jesus, the King who loves you!
The Lord is passionate about setting you free from the bondage of sexual impurity. Passion is not bad. Jesus had passion which led Him to the cross to die for our sins. But “passions” that come from the “flesh” as verse 24 clarifies are not good. These are the passions that we need to crucify so that Jesus can revive us to new life by the Holy Spirit that cultivates holy characteristics in us.
Live with the Holy Spirit and I guarantee you that God will cultivate purity in you.
Without purity, a human being regresses in functionality.
Sexual impurity degrades you as a humanbeing.
“Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.” Romans 1:24
If you choose to jump over the barricades to indulge in what degrades you as a human being, God will eventually let you. Romans 1:24 says, “God gave them over to their sinful desires.” God will not force you to be holy, that is your choice. However, He will give you the opportunity to turn from your sin if you would respond to His Holy Spirit.
“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” Hebrews 3:15
Jesus loves you so much and He wants you to turn to Him, but He needs you to do exactly that: turn to Him. This begins with a softening of your heart. If you harden your heart, you obstruct your connection with God and there is no conversation taking place. Soften your heart and talk to God so He can renew you by His own Spirit, so that you can change to be pure.
“And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:11
The Holy Spirit cleanses you and washed you clean to be pure and holy.
Let Him make you pure and holy.
Let Him call you pure and holy.
Let Him look at your pure and holy.
Let Him smile on you pure and holy.
Let Him love you pure and holy.
You are pure and holy to God because of Jesus’ sacrifice for you.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17
Freedom arises from the Holy Spirit. There is freedom when you emancipate yourself from sin. There is no freedom in sin. Sin enslaves you, traps you, owns you and confines you to the barren land of its empty pleasures. Sin never lasts. But real freedom always lasts. Live in the freedom that God gives and you experience the enjoyment of real life that comes from the God who made life to be enjoyed to the fullest.
Sin is a trickery of the devil. He tempts you with a short-term pleasure that hides the long-term consequences, and by the time the long-term consequences manifest you are already too entangled to get out. You need Jesus to set you free.
Jesus Christ is our liberator from sin.
Do you want to be set free?
Jesus said… “Whom the Son sets free shall be free indeed.” John 8:32
When Jesus frees you, you never have to go back to the way it was before. Life is empty without Jesus. Life is dull without Jesus. Life is mediocre without Jesus. Life is repetitively meaningless without Jesus. Life was not designed to be enjoyed without Jesus. The devil can try to tempt as much as he wants, but eventually everyone discovers there is no meaningful joy or purpose to be found in the devil’s playground of sin.IT always gets old. It’s time to say goodbye to all of that sin and say hello to Jesus… Life is waiting for you to jump and fly with Him!
Purity necessitates The Holy Spirit in your life to sustain you. The Holy Spirit functions as the person of God who leads you, speaks to you, guards you and reminds you with truth.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
The Holy Spirit’s power in your makes you unstoppable. Overcoming the sin pattern of sexual temptation and sexual sin exponentially increases your purpose, joy and strength to rise! It’s worth getting rid of sexual sin. Purge out the sexual influences and get rid of anything and everything that might make you stumble.
Jesus said, “And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.” This is an extreme that acts as a metaphor to give us a standard by which to emulate when it comes to taking drastic measures to pursue purity.
Do what it takes to pursue purity. Eradiacte what takes away from you.
God is our holy lover and He will never ask you to compromise and commit sexual sin. When He chastens you through the fiery trials of temptation, let that season forever solidify your decision to stay away from sexual immorality. Seek Jesus with all your heart and then sexual purity will always be your adornment because you know how to say no to what robs you of your destiny and say yes to Jesus who leads you into greater. Sexual purity is worth it. It’s time for you to see that you are worthy of it.
