Free In Love

Love with Jesus satisfies your hunger. His guidance provides for your deepest needs.

In Matthew 12, Jesus and His disciples walk through a grainfield on their journey.

“At about that time Jesus was walking through some grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, so they began breaking off some heads of grain and eating them. But some Pharisees saw them do it and protested, “Look, your disciples are breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:1-2

Jesus does not allow anyone to attack His disciples. He defends them.

Jesus cares for our needs because He understands our humanity.

“But you would not have condemned my innocent disciples if you knew the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!” Matthew 12:7-8

Jesus is more concerned with the disciples’ needs than the Pharisees’ Sabbath laws. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath.

The disciples did not do anything wrong by eating grain. Jesus protects you from obligation to the law.

Jesus’ presence ushers in the new covenant of freedom.

“These two women serve as an illustration of God’s two covenants. The first woman, Hagar, represents Mount Sinai where people received the law that enslaved them. And now Jerusalem is just like Mount Sinai in Arabia, because she and her children live in slavery to the law. But the other woman, Sarah, represents the heavenly Jerusalem. She is the free woman, and she is our mother.” Galatians 4:24-26

We live by freedom in Jesus who gives us His Holy Spirit.

“So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬ ‭

Jesus’ love frees us.

“For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17
