enflame your eyes
enflame your heart
let Him see the work of art
inside your spark
of beauty’s hearth
show Him you love Him
like you will never
run out of reasons to love Him
tell him you need Him
like you will never
run out of seasons to need Him
receive Him
everyday
in every gaze
He needs your eyes
He needs your eyes
“For the eyes of the LORD roam to and fro over all the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him.”
2 Chronicles 16:9
His eyes… He holds me in His eyes. Like the moonlight holds the night. Like the deep sea holds the tide. Nestled brightly in the fire of His heart. Burrowed deeply in the hearth of His soul. Rising up to meet the golden Son of His love.
How do your eyes feel when you look at Him?
“His head and hair were white like wool — white as snow — and His eyes like a fiery flame.” Revelation 1:14
Do you see His love?
When John surveyed the resurrected Christ in front of Him, He saw fire… light… ferocity… magnitude… Lordship. In the overwhelming majesty of His greatness, John could see Him… Because He knew Jesus loved Him.
In John chapter 13, Jesus dines with His disciples for the last supper before He will be handed over to be murdered. Yet his loving eyes are on his disciples. And John’s loving embrace is nestled beside Jesus.
“Now one of His disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining at His side.” John 13:23
John wrote this verse… and he identifies himself as “the one whom Jesus loved.” He claimed it with confidence. He knew who he was both in his own identity and in his Heavenly identity. Both are rooted in Jesus. You know who you are when you see yourself as Jesus’ own Beloved. You gain intimate access with Jesus when you live as if you are His only one. Jesus likes it how John carries this identity. He wants us to feel the freedom of being loved by Him.
When He saw Jesus face to face… Jesus’ eyes blazed with burning flames of love for Him.
Why?
You see God’s love for you manifested when you see yourself as His Beloved.
Be confident in Jesus’ love for you… It’s the gateway to seeing Heaven open. The angels descending. The stars colliding. In His eyes of blazing fire holding your essence.
“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous.” Psalm 34:15
Jesus makes your heart righteous. Him alone. There is no possible way for a human being born into a sinful world laden with evil, bitten by the curse to regenerate themselves on their own. We need Jesus. We need His atonement.
“He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole universe.” 1 John 2:2
The universe needs a savior… and His name is Jesus Christ. He wants to gaze into your eyes with loving passion if you’ll let Him… If you’ll choose Him… If you’ll love Him in return…
“His eyes are like doves beside streams of water, washed in milk and set like jewels.” Song of Solomon 5:12
I love your eyes, Jesus…
“How beautiful you are, my darling. How very beautiful! Your eyes are doves.” Song of Solomon 1:15
I love your eyes, My love…
Look into His eyes.
God wants your attention.
God wants your affection.
“I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him.” 2 Corinthans 11:2
God purifies you to present you to Jesus as His Beloved Bride. The Bride whom the book of Revelation says will consumate the marriage of the Lamb, the finale of the New Heaven and New Earth.
Revelation foreshadows the love story of Jesus and His Bride. A Bride whom He enflames His eyes for. With passion and zeal.
In Revelation 1:14, John writes this book using the word “ophthalmoi” which means eyes as he describes the optical nerve of sight from Jesus’ body. There are the eyes, essentially. And they carry an important function. One of the most important functions in the whole body. The universe is unveiled to you through your eyes. Other humans and their expressions are revealed through their eyes. Your eyes carry fierce power without having to say a word.
The word “ophthalmoi” here in the Greek not only means “eye” but it also means “the mind’s eye.” Your mind says something through your eyes. So does God. He speaks throough His eyes. Through His gaze. Through His flaming retinas of love and power. You were meant to behold His eyes and feel the aftershocks of love pouring into you.
You were designed to love with your eyes.
Just like Jesus does when He looks upon His Beloved.
You were also designed to anticipate love because of your eyes.
Where do you point your gaze? What we delight to see is what fills our periphery, our dreaming, our thinking, our hopes, our goals. I want to see Heaven… I want to see the light of God in every way and every place. That His glory may shine forever and ever. There’s no one like the Lord and there shouldn’t be. But because He gazes onto us with His loving gaze, we absorb the very beauty of His nature.
You are stunningly, breathtakingly beautiful because of God’s own eyes showering you with glows. Heavenly glows. Heavenly shine. Heavenly scintillation far brighter than the most cosmic of luminscence. Because your mind, heart, body and soul were designed to host the living God.
You host the living God inside of you. What a fascinating idea, that a holy God could live inside a human soul. But it’s His wish. His desire. He wants that to be the case, whether we like it or not. And when you experience His love, you do like it. When He’s inside of you. Because it saturates you will satisfaction like nothing else. The human experience will come with its share of pains and agonies, but the Lord’s goodness to you and I outweighs it all. We can take our human hearts to His perfect heart, and find Him imparting a holy grace that covers the pain. He meets you with intimacy in your time of need.
I love how You meet me, God. I love how You see me, God. I love how You know me, God. I love how You touch me, God. I love how You heal me, God. I love You empower me, God. I love You. And I always will love You.
“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, watching the evil and the good.” Proverbs 15:13
God watches over the earth with his eyes. His heart and his love create the barometer by which the world is seen. He determines what is good and what is evil. We defer to His words, and it is often not aligned to religion nor human law. It’s aligned to Jesus and every word that came from His mouth and the Holy Spirit that professes the deeper utterings of His soul. You need the Spirit of God if you want to know His heart and words. Humans cannot give you the logic you crave. God’s ways will defy rationale. And we must give in to that everytime.
I follow You, Lord… only You. I look to You, Lord. Only You.
Gaze on His eyes and meditate on His love. Let your spirit connect with His spirit and let all the other voices fade away. It’s only you and Jesus when its you and Jesus. He wants to see your love for Him.
Enflame your eyes… enflame your heart. Don’t without the splendor from the start. Come in hot and come in sparking the passion He longs to experience with you. Enflame your eyes for your lover. It generates endearment. Let them see the joy ecstasy of your spirit’s longing for them. God wants to see it. How you long for Him. Lover’s love is best experienced in sensory interaction. Sight, touch, hearing, smell and sound. Your eyes are important in surrounding your relationship with a sacred, special bond that only you and your lover can share. Use your eyes… and glisten your love.
“I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with My loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8
His loving eyes are on you…❤️
